Something happened. Something bad. It took a long time. Luckily, it didn’t take as long to clean up. Here’s something about all that. Was that vague enough?
A few weeks before the Alamo shut down, QT came to town for 3 nights of triple features. I missed the sex comedies and the swingin’ triple feature, but Redneck night kicked ass. In particular, a film from North Carolina called Redneck Miller. Geoffrey Land has a great time playing DJ Miller, a country music DJ who’s one of a kind “chopper” gets stolen and used in drug deal. Schlitz drinking, ass kicking, and lines like “Baby, you can take a lot of lovin,’ I can only die once,” round out the rest of the film. Classic. Here’s QT’s introduction.

A few weeks back Patton Oswalt came to the Alamo to talk about this little film he did with Pixar. He also brought with him one of his favorite new films. Here’s Mr. O. introducing Austin TX to The Foot Fist Way. After the screening of Jody Hill’s opus, he did a Q&A?

Herschell Gordon Lewis is the director of several fine, fine, motion pictures. I rented Blood Feast from one of the great video rental stores of the early 80s, Video To Go in the Frandor Shopping Center. The Godfather of Gore swung by the Alamo Downtown as part of the 10th Anniversary celebration. Here’s a quick yarn from a legendary storyteller. Yee-Ha!
